Saying Farewell to Summer the 30A Way

September 15, 2017 By Matt McGuire

It’s always a bummer when the summer season comes to an end. Late nights with friends and family, outdoor activities, and making memories that last a lifetime are the best parts of summer. With September quickly coming to a close, we look back and wonder where did those months of fun go? Lucky for us, however, living on the beach means summer is never really that far away!

Even though autumn officially starts in a few short days, there are all kinds of ways to continue making summer memories along 30A, our favorite stretch of pristine, Gulf Coast beaches. Looking for ways to extend the best season of the year? Check out these fun ways to stay in the summer spirit!

1. Go to the Beach

Sometimes, when you live so close to the beach, you take it for granted. How many times have you wanted to bury your toes in the sand, swim in the clear water, and soak up the sun this summer, but haven’t because you’ve “had other things to do”? Chances are, the answer is A LOT. When life gets going, it is difficult to enjoy the simple things, even when one of these is literally steps from your front door. Don’t let summer pass you by without getting in some much-needed relaxation time at our beautiful, serene, and picture-perfect Gulf Coast beaches.

2. Go on a Bike Ride

What better way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors than a bike along one of the many tree-lined trails of 30A? From trails that parallel the scenic road of 30A’s famous beach communities to trails that are more of a workout, biking is a way for everyone to enjoy the coast. No bike? No problem! Plenty of local businesses rent bikes and provide bike tours so you, too, may enjoy the beauty of this area.

3. Have a Bonfire on the Beach

There is nothing more perfect than a bonfire to say “Farewell, summer”…except, perhaps, a beach bonfire. Combine s’mores, campfires, and laughter with the nighttime beach atmosphere, and you’ll be reminiscing about your summer fun with your friends for hours. Of course, planning a bonfire can be a lot of work. Book your beach bonfire locally, so your end-of-summer fun is nothing short of casual and easy.
